My Week & My Pattern

NEW:

Highlights of my week:

Monday I went all around with Amelia in the morning to prepare for her wedding. It's crazy how some of the things you think will be so quick and easy to get done end up taking hours!

Tuesday I met up with Janelle at Solomon Pond Mall and we shopped for 3 hours. I didn't get anything of course, but we had a great time and enjoyed lemonade smoothies.

Wednesday I spent the morning with Kurt, then met Amelia and we got our nails done. :) I have been waiting to get mine done and was extremely excited to go. I normally get a french manicure on acrylic nails, but this time I got a light pink color and they look fabulous. =)

OLD:

It feels so strange posting a week like this. Pathetic, actually. Because the last few months I worked 40 hours a week and half the time was driving to and from my work and Kurt's and home. I didn't have a moment to myself.

Before that I was at my new apartment all day everyday, cooking, cleaning, organizing, creating, and of course, relaxing :) I even made myself a rice pack out of one of Kurt's T-shirts. It works great and actually resembles a rectangle. But I was definitely not busy, so un-busy it scared me having all of that time to myself. I didn't even have internet or cable or anything. :o

I miss my old apartment in Maine so much. It was honestly the cutest little apartment and down here it would go for more then TWICE as much. I think that is cry worthy. I mean, yes things were more then tight in Maine even with both of us working full time, and yes I feel down right spoiled now shopping and getting my nails done and going out so often after months of staying home and thinking an iced coffee once a month and new polish from the dollar store was the greatest thing. BUT I did start to love Maine and had just gotten adjusted and then BAM! I'm back in Mass. Don't get me wrong, I love it down here being with family. But I will never forget my first apartment and will always cherish those days.

AND before that I was working all the time and wedding planning and all was so crazy. I seem to be constantly switching from extreme opposites. Mass, Maine, Mass. Does this mean the next step in the pattern will be back to Maine and working full time? hmm.

I guess this is just random thoughts. I'm reminiscing and missing Maine, but definitely enjoying the here and now.

Boston

Today Kurt got called in to Boston for work in the morning, but only for a quick run, so we decided to spend some time there for the afternoon. He is in Boston quite a bit for work, but it's a lot different when you are trying to find your way around for fun. After a while of driving in circles and the GPS trying to sending us down (in the wrong direction) one way streets, we ended up at Quincy Market / Faneuil Hall. Parking was very tricky to us newbies, but managed to find a spot relatively close. It was FREEZING out today. We shopped around for a couple of hours, with my normal routine of shopping and not buying. Then spent a ridiculous amount of money on lunch in the market. =) Then topped it all off with a fruit smoothie for Kurt and Fruit cup for me.

It was a great date, Boston is a lot of fun! I hope to go back when it is warmer and more planned. I can't believe I lived 45 Minutes from Boston for 5 years and only went a couple of times.

We ate on the upper level.

I love history, Kurt thinks it is boring.
BUT I noticed this one cool thing,
It said it was where the first telephone was used.
Very Cool.

made me feel like it was summer.
but tasted like rubber.

YUM!

B & N

Today I went to one of my old favorite places: Barnes & Nobles + Starbucks at Blackstone Valley. I took one of my old sisters (hehe ;) Alyssa Beth, whom I love dearly. We enjoyed a treat. My new favorite drink is their Shaken Iced Passion Tea. It is very yummy and caffeine free so I can have it after four o'clock. =) I'm sure when it is nice and warm out I will enjoy it even more, but today I was just pretending. [please tell me I'm not the only one who bought flip-flops the first warm day this spring?] While there I looked through bridesmaid books (yes, I'm that much of a nerd) my favorite one had the subtitle of "Help the Bride Shine Without Losing Your Mind" Hahahaha. I didn't even read the book, just appreciated the laugh I got from the title.

I discussed with myself today that it's time to get back to my old self. At least somewhat. I cleaned out my inbox, replied to a few emails (that's a miracle for me) and actually took a few pictures today. I got a camera for my birthday (yes almost a year ago) and have used it once. I am attempting to come out from under my rock, which my dear sister informs me is very large and heavy. Sisters are so great when you need to see things black & white. (: I am not ready for the great big world of facebook, twitter, or any of the other 'social' internet thingamahoogles (I don't know what they all are), but hope this blog will let you feel like you some what know what is going on and new with Coralie Rose Hansen. =)

For every normal picture there has to be an odd one.

old & new

In coming up with a name for my blog, I borrowed something: The title. As a bride I heard the old saying "Something old, something new. Something borrowed, something blue." more then once the days leading to my wedding. For some reason when thinking of a blog title, this is the first thing that popped into my head. Something old, something new. When you think of your life, those are normally the first things that come into your mind. The new things are prominent, as well as the things of the forever past. The ones you miss or absolutely don't. Everyday is filled with thoughts of the immediate, the necessary. And of the old things, thoughts of the past. Either forgotten for a while or always there.

Something old, Something new. I am back home, to the place of old. After eight months of new. I am in he same old surroundings, but it feels new. I am the same old person, with a new view of life after months living away from home.

. . . Last of all this blog is new. But a very old idea. I have wanted to blog for a long while, but have never done so for fear of having nothing worth while to post. With the realization that I don't always have to come up with new things to post, but can post of things of the old; I have decided to give it a go =)
